Read to Self

We are learning to read to self. This builds our reading stamina and helps us to get better at reading. We also have lots of fun reading!

Success Criteria

  • I read quietly
  • I concentrate on the book
  • I stay in space
  • I read the whole time
  • I get started straight away

How I am going

Read to self

I really like: Looking at the pictures and the words.

I think I need to practice: Not getting distracted by other people and not talking.

Emily, during read to self you make sure you have enough books so you can read the whole time and stay in one spot. Remember to get started staright away and practise your reading to grow your stamina. Perhaps if you make sure to find a place to read that is going to help your learning (maybe not next to your friends) you may be able to get started straight away.

We are learning to build our confidence in and around the water. We practise our swimming skills and love to show off our new tricks.

This is what I have been practising:
Safe entry into the pool (1/4 turn entry)

I am really proud of: Doing the starfish on my tummy.

It is tricky when: I do the starfish on my back.

The next thing I want to learn is: To do rocket arms on my back.

Emily, you enter the pool safely and are very confident in the water and I love all the tricks you show me. Rocket arms on your back can be very tricky Remember to keep pushing your tummy up to the sky when you are on your back, this will help with rocket arms and floating on your back.
