Writing to describe

In High5 we have been practising writing to describe. That means we are trying to get the reader to see what we see, we are using our words to create a picture. We have been adding details to our writing to help make the picture clearer.

Task:
Our job is to do this planning and write our own story about a person in our family that is special to us.

Success Criteria:
  • I planned my writing
  • I added details (what I can seehow my person moveswhat I might hear from my person)
  • I did some fixing by myself
My writing:

How I am going

Reflection
My favourite part was: thinking about Jaiden and writing my ideas down.

It was really hard when: I had to keep on having more ideas.

Something that really helped me was: my plan and thinking about how he looks and how he moves and what he likes.

Something new I learned was: I can do it even if it is hard.

Kerri Thinks
What great learning Emily, you can do it even when it is hard!!
You have planned you writing and added loads of details so the reader can get to know Jaiden, like you know Jaiden. I am pleased using your plan helped you to write your piece. It can be tricky to have lots of ideas but remember to use our success criteria and modelled (the pictures we use) writing to help add details.
